"The Body Keeps the Score":
A Study Group
Written by one of the world’s experts on trauma (Bessel van der Kolk), The Body Keeps The Score offers a bold new paradigm, with treatment options based in increased body awareness. The book is compelling, thorough and accessible, and its stories and information provide a practical foundation for embodied practice, whether you’re working with trauma or not.
I am excited to host an in-depth discussion of this important book. I love having a reason to reduce our screen time during the week, which also contributes to our self-care. But rather than a plain study group, this 12-week course includes discussion + deep embodied practice, to ensure that the content of the book sticks, instead of being just interesting information. We explore 2 chapters/week via discussion, movement, and processing. In a fluid order, we'll have:
-
40-60 minutes of discussion on the book
-
40 minutes of embodied practice (similar to my Exploratory Movement class)
-
10-20 minutes of processing discussion
The course also includes:
-
An online forum where take-home reflection prompts or meditations are posted.
-
Recordings of the discussion portion of the course. Participants unavailable for the live discussion get the recording and can attend one of my weekly online classes for the embodiment practice.
-
Participants are welcome to come to any of my weekly classes as an add-on to the course (by donation).
-
A maximum of 12 participants.

Using your authentic voice
Diving into vocal work can help you and your team communicate more clearly, give information with a clear voice while navigating the stress or anxiety of presentations, convey meaning without straining or injuring your voice, remain authentic while conveying information you have talked about a thousand times, and gain and retain the courage to remain present while standing in front of a group of people. This seminar addresses all these concerns.
In this seminar, I work with you and your group to clarify intention through the voice, I share techniques and approaches to speak free of strain, maintain the health of your voice apparatus, and help to build or develop your command of the room. I limit the number of participants, to be able to give more personal attention.
This course includes:
- Half day & full day options
- All handouts and supplies
- Participant access to me for questions and processing up to one month post-seminar
- When offered via live stream, a recording of the seminar.
Duration: 3 or 6 hours
Location: At your location (when safety protocols allow), or via Zoom
